Stories of people’s experiences have an additional human interest factor, because for so long stigma has maintained a strong silence around having mental illness, and personal stories have historically not been told, even within families. These stories are told, created and produced by MIEACT volunteers and are presented here in a variety of mediums: short film, radio shows and written accounts. Opening MindsOpening Minds is MIEACT’s own radio program – devised, run and operated by a team of Volunteers, the show features on community radio 2XX 98.3FM every Tuesday night from 6:00pm-6:30pm. Moving MindsBetween 2009 and 2012, MIEACT volunteers, drawing from their own life stories, wrote and produced their own 2-3 minute short films with remarkable results.
